Wicked Sycamore:

Wicked Sycamore is an all-female trio hailing from the Baltimore/DC area, consisting of Juliette Bell on guitar, Lainie Gray on mandolin, and Madeline Waters on cello. Their sound can be described as contemporary folk with a mischievous edge that is grounded in traditional roots music but branches out into Americana, bluegrass, funk, and jazz. They write original music ranging from fun and light-hearted sing-alongs to deep, introspective tunes for the ages. No matter the genre, their music relies heavily on intricate vocal harmonies, thoughtful arrangement, and instrumental prowess. By growing their presence as a collaborative force, they hope to increase female representation as both musicians and songwriters throughout the modern music landscape.

The High and Wides:

The High & Wides project a big, driving sound—musical traditions re-imagined for a new century. With roots in urban Baltimore and the rural Delmarva peninsula, they draw on bluegrass backgrounds and weave in influences from new wave to old time to make music that defies boundaries while evoking the era when country, bluegrass, western swing, and early rock’n’roll mingled freely. They have three albums: 2018’s “Lifted” (named for the gear theft that forced the band to re-record the completed album from scratch) and 2019’s “Seven True Stories” feature the band’s strong songwriting and arranging, and 2022’s “Blood: Family Harmony Classics” highlights their roots with covers of songs by groups such as the Kershaw Brothers, Maddox Brothers & Rose, and the Carter Family.
